Entrepreneurial Philanthropy at Work

We are true-to-the-bone, down and dirty entrepreneurs, geared towards profit, and we just love the ring of our cash register — but for a single purpose: to do good.

PAE’s venture philanthropy department corrals the money we make and puts it to work in China for causes we believe in. We are committed to using 100% of our profits (yes, that’s all of it) to support outstanding nonprofit organizations and social entrepreneurs that make a demonstrable difference in people’s lives. The way we help depends on the strengths and capabilities of the organization or group we wish to support. We look for people-and-project combinations, at different stages of progress, already working in the areas we care about. Our involvement comes in several forms:

Groups who are just starting out, but have the drive and most of the skills to achieve their goals, we might incubate within PAE.
Groups who are already operating their social or charitable enterprise, but are suffering from a lack of management expertise — and possibly tight financial constraints — we will seek to support with guidance, management, and funds.
Successfully functioning organizations that have strong management and operations abilities, who only need more money to grow faster and help more people more rapidly, might receive funds directly from us.

In addition to the funds generated within PAE, we have also created The Halo Fund, a Hong Kong registered charity which will accept funds from other donors who wish to support PAE’s causes. 100% of the donations will be used to fund programs. There will be no administration charge deducted from the Halo Fund, because all expenses will be provided, and paid for, by PAE.
